Is it okay to use CaribSea Eco-Complete for the base instead of sand?

I bought this for my salt water aquarium from Amazon , but it seems like it's for fresh water aquariums..
I bought it because I read somewhere that black base brings up the colors of the fishes.
but it seems like everybody is buying live sand for their salt water tanks.
so is it gonna be a problem?

Thanks

If it is the cichlid formula you might be ok. It is seeded with bacteria for fresh water though. If it is the planted no it is not ok. If it were for my tank I'd get an argonite sand meant for a salt water tank. You may be ok with what you got but you also may regret it. Way easier to just start with the correct substrate.

I would send it back to Amazon. Really need sand sold for a saltwater aquarium otherwise you could have all kinds of issues.
