Hermet Crabs love conchs.....to eat!

Hello all,
Just thought I would throw this out there so some others won't learn the hard way like me. I had three beautiful conchs in my tank for a whopping four days. They were very good cleaners and fun for the grand-kids to watch. The hermit crabs seemed to follow them around too. Well come to discover on the night of the fourth day they were in there, the hermits got together and attacked them one at a time. Killed them off and took the shells. Along with two of my big Nassarius snails. the tiny ones they don't bother because they couldn't fit in the shells is the only reason I can come up with. I called SWF and asked them why they would do this and they told me they were in fact enemies. I was unaware of this because they sold me the reef starter which included crabs, snails, clams and shrimp. I thought they all got along. I guess I was wrong. I miss my conchs. :(

sadly true :(

My hermits all prefer the conch style shell to any other one. Must be something special on the inside.
