Awe thanks, you gave away the ending.

I like red.
Am I allowed to be picky? Or is that rude?

Am I getting predictable on here?

ntracy, get the refractometer. The hydrometer is not nearly accurate enough for hypo.

Do not go any lower without a refactometer! Or that floating one.

Tizzo said the floating hydrometer is good... that's the one I have. How accurate is that kind of hydrometer?
For the record, I'd never buy that star mapping looking hyrdometer... I just like the one I put in and read where the water line is.
BTW I don't mind that you guys chat on my thread... in fact I'm kind of honored lol. Me Being the newb rubbing elbows with seasoned hobbyists!

Is your hydrometer a glass, lab grade, floating hydrometer or a plastic, swing arm, one?

Yeah, that's what I meant. I shouldn't have simply said floating cause I guess the plastic ones can be interpretted that way. If this is what you have, it's also a good source of correctly measuring.

But a refractometer is so much easier IMO..

Those are actually pretty accurate. Bring a water sample to your lfs and have them test it. See how it compares to the refractometer. If it is the same then you are fine.

Glad you sent that pic. Yes it's exactly what I have. Here's a pic of the testing stuff I've accumulated amidst this money-pit of a hobby!
I understand the way some hobbies are... there's a lot of expenses up-front, but then very little maintenance. i.e. when I got into surfing (I live 1/2 block from the beach), I went out and bought a board and wetsuit... but never had to buy anything again except for wax... this is a whole different story... the needs keep comin' and comin'!
Yes, I am a mac guy... since 2007, but still a total PC nerd... mac's are just simpler. Way better to have a unix platform IMO.

Why the mac guy comments? Did I see you on that other thread?? Now I gotta go look.
Your supplies look good. Not to much. Some you don't need, but it never hurts to have.

Sep comes out when the moon does

ntracy, you will notice that over time you will not need all of that stuff. Your tank will stabilize as it matures. I use my refractometer and nitrate test kit the most, but have quite a large arsenal of supplies.

No this is the first time I've made a comment about my mac-ish-ness. You a mac or PC guy? And where's this thread? Maybe I can get a piece of the action
