We were given a Mini Carpet Anemone today. Don't know that much about them and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them? How do you care for them? How big do they get?

If it is a true mini...it is my understanding that they get silver dollar size
also you feed them like any other anemone...just smaller pieces...LOL
I have looked into them, just have not found one yet :)

it definitely is a true mini. I hope I can get pictures of it tomorrow, it looked great in his tank before he gave it to me. I was hoping they stayed really small. I already have BTA and it looks like the RBTA is about to split. I can't have another big anemone in my tank! My clowns are getting spoiled.
Thanks :)

Here is a picture of Tigahboy's tank (member of another site) and his mini's to take a look at. You get the size compared to the skunk cleaner shrimp.

yeah, tru minis like that have such a different look to them, awesome!!! good lighting, a small piece of krill or brine or mysis every week or so and you should be good.

Those are not mini carpets, they are maxi minis. Minis stay small as Meowzer said appx silver dollar size, maxi minis can get 6-8 inches across. Very nice anemones

I have one. Wanted one for a long time, And got one a couple of months ago from a fellow reefer. Unfortunately, it's in my 125g and is barely noticeable!
It's green and pink and about the size of a quarter. Poor little guy, when I remember he is there, I give him one mysis. Guess he's doing ok, he's was only dime size when I got him!! I've heard they will split like crazy! Hope this is true, but only time will tell??

You are not feeding enough. If you feed every 2 days it will split.

Thanks for the info. Is one mysis good? More than that? Or something else??

I find that my minis preferr mysis. My maxi minis will eat almost anything I offer, mysis, krill and Rods.

I like mine...I have 2....Maybe a quarter size, and have not spilt, but that is fine with me.....I give them a tuny piece of scallop a couple of times a week.....they are very sticky LOL
1 has stayed in the exact spot I put it ...hmmmm....I think I got them in the spring
and the other has traveled all over the tank....haha....I thought it was gone, had not seen it in 2 months or so....and one day....whalla!! it was back on top of the tank

this one was the size of a pencil eraser when I got it, it is now 1", and this is also the one that has stayed in the same spot

This one was about the same size that it is now.....I call it the wanderer....LOL...remember it was missing for a long time too
