I have a business conference to go to in Baltimore in a couple weeks and need some stuff to do on the off days. Anything especially worth seeing? Any cool aquariums?

I got two false Percula's along with two bubble tip anamones. They each picked one to hang with, but it took them a couple weeks to do it. When ever we have guests over they all see the "Nemo"...

There is the Baltimore Aquarium, I haven't been there in a long time though so I don't know what it is like now.

It"s not only the Baltimore Aquarium....it's the NATIONAL AQUARIUM!! No trip to Charm City is complete with out it. It reall is amazing. Be sure to check out Aquarium Center and Exotic Aquatics if you're in the mood for some LFS browsing. For food and drinks skip the tourist trap of the Inner Harbor and go to Fell's Point and get some crabs or mussells at Bertha's or great corned beef sandwhich at the Broadway Deli. The Wharf Rat has 3 for $3 micro brews every day until 7PM. Edgar Allen Poe's grave is on the westside (don't go at night, bad neighborhood) or you could come to the shop and get a tattoo by me. lol Feel free to email me if you need any info or directions.

I'm not going to have a car . . . whats the public transit like? Are cabs expensive?
I am staying at the Mariot Convention Center . . . its downtown I am assuming . . .
I am definitely going to check out the aquarium, I don't know if I will get time to do any LFS shopping although it would be nice to see.
Thanks for the heads up on the eats . . . I LOVE corned beef sandwhiches! My fav!

You're right in the middle of all the action. Cabs aren't bad and there is a water ferry you can take. Good Pubs in Fels Point, great food in Little Italy (try Sabatino's). The Wharf Rat is a good Pub and that is near the Gardens. Awesome brunch on Sunday's at the Hyatt too.

fells point is a little on the younger crowd side. There are some pretty good bars there though and if your looking for some good local cooking there, Theresa's Deli inside Broadway Market.
Federal Hill also has some great bars and is just a few blocks from the science center. Cross Street Market has great baltimore seafood. If you like live music check out the Funk Box in Federal Hill.
Also be sure to check out Canton Square on the other side of Fell's point. Great bars and some pretty good eats, not much else there though.
Aquarium is a must. Depending on when you go they are about to take down the seahorse exhibit that has been up for a few years. Right next to the Aquarium is ESPN zone and hard rock.
FYI: There building a ten story addition to the aquarium to mimic the outback in Australia compete with Gators and snakes and gorge.
Any more questions just ask, I live downtown

Sweet! Thanks for the info all . . . . I am going the first week in feb so hopefully the seahorses will still be there.
I will be there for 5 days, mon - fri. Get there mondy night, leave friday afternoon.
Works pickin up the tab, so I am all about the good eats . . . I would really like a nice chop house or seafood estab. But I am going to have to get a corned beef sandwhich for sure.
From what I understand the guys I am going with are pretty wild so its going to defenitely be a drinking trip . . . we are all about 25 so the younger crowd is a good thing . . .

For the corned beef you gotta check out the Broadway Deli. Tell Trish that Josh sent you and she'll hook you up for sure. My wife worked for her since she opened up (she's on maternity leave now). Good people and better food. For a chop house there is none better than Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. Unbelieveable prime rib and steaks. Seafood, there are a few good ones. For fresh fish go to Moe's Fisherman's Wharf on President Street. The Rusty Scupper has great seafood too. And yeah, Sabatino's is my favorite italian resturant EVER. The real deal. Really stay away from The Inner Harbour stuff. The Hard Rock Cafe is awful and way overpriced. Also, don't forget about "The Block" with the newly opened Larry Flint's Hustler club....:D

oh yeah, and happen to be going to the baltimore aquarium
just got back from baltimore and had an unbelievable time. I didn't get a chance to go to many of the resturants or places mentioned above unfortunately because I couldnt get online when i was there but never the less, good times.
Went to the aquarium and thought it was cool . . . not fantastic, but cool. I have some mediocre pics from a crappy digi cam.
Went to the hard rock a few times as I could walk there and the bar tender liked me so she gave me free beers . . . cant complain about that. Went to ESPN zone too to watch a couple games. Ate at McCormick and Schmicks and was pleased, also ate at the James Joyce bar . . . liked that place. It was around the corner from the hotel. However, the best meal I had while I was there (and I am still drooling over it) was from Attman's Deli in Little Italy. Hands down the best Reuben I have ever had . . . and not to mention the soup! GREAT sandwhich!!!!
Also, the Clipper City Ale is F'n GREAT!!! I couldn't get enough of it!

Glad you had a good time here in Charm City. About the Aquarium, my wife and I went last Friday evening and we were really disappointed. I don't know if they're just remodeling during the slow months or what but things aren't as they usually are. A lot of the tanks were down and the livestock was not the best I've seen. The big coral reef was damn near empty compared to it's usual state. I know they are in the process of some major overhauls so it probably is due to that. The zebra shark was very active so that was a plus though.
