Do these sharks breath heavily naturally?I have had one in my 561 gallon tank for 5 months. He has been breathing alot heavier than my other fish since I first got him.I keep the temperature at 76 degrees.I have a water turnover of about 8 times with an oversized wet dry and protein skimmer. There is a zero reading for ammonia and nitrites. There is a nitrate reading of around 25.He is eating well and swims almost constantly. His tankmates include two small cortez rays,a naso tang, a yellow tang,a tessy eel,a lion fish and a Harelequin tusk.Allo f the other inhabitants appear very healthy.Anybody with any experience with these sharks with any obsevations?

Have you been able to check his belly? Check for any discoloration. Also look closely at his gills... for discoloration or even clear gel-like patches.

Upon closer inspection it appears the gills are swollen.I do not see any discoloration or other signs of parasites.Any ideas on a multi symptom medication that can be used on sharks? Thanks,Brett

Check the book Aquarium Sharks and Rays by Scott Michael. Mine always seemed to breath kind of heavy when I had it, what do you feed it?
