In the way it is used here, I would assume it is someone who is against change. So old school so to speak.

depends on the type of purist or how the word is used

some purists believe old technology is the best and tend not to agree with any newer advances. or tend not to think outside the box in trying new things.

or

some purists believe in keeping ocean specific tanks, and mixing species of anything that originates in different oceans/location shouldnt be done in the home aquarium.

or

you get the slur for purist, its just used as a way to subtly insult some one, when some one elses views differ.

heck there may be more meanings, but these three are generally how I have seen the word used.

I gotta say region specific tanks are really cool, though few and far between.

I'm not saying I agreed with it because I'm in favor of it. But when I hear the expression "purist", this is the closest reference that I have taken it as. But I'm sure you are right, a tank like that would be pretty cool.

Say, since I have both you and Alix in the same chat, either of you ever come up with my drawing, or have both of you forgotten about it?
