My LPS 20gal. reef has been running under this fixture now for 1 year 1 month. All corals never lost any of there coloring nor bleached from the cross over. Matter a fact my Xenia's have...
Sadly ours died last week (pump malfunctioned and caught fire which had a domino effect of other water issues). He would hop along the front of our 200 gallon tank, loved to race back n forth....
Picked up my CB Target Mandarin from our FedEx station this morning. To say I'm disappointed about the condition of this fish is putting it mildly. I've yet to see a fish so skinny and still...
i mean i know what the term means, i mean in relation to the hobby. i see it mentioned from time to time, there are still some "purists" out there that do this, dont do that, whatever. but what exactly does that mean?

In the way it is used here, I would assume it is someone who is against change. So old school so to speak.
depends on the type of purist or how the word is used
some purists believe old technology is the best and tend not to agree with any newer advances. or tend not to think outside the box in trying new things.
or
some purists believe in keeping ocean specific tanks, and mixing species of anything that originates in different oceans/location shouldnt be done in the home aquarium.
or
you get the slur for purist, its just used as a way to subtly insult some one, when some one elses views differ.
heck there may be more meanings, but these three are generally how I have seen the word used.

I'm voting for this version as being the SW aquarist's definition....
I gotta say region specific tanks are really cool, though few and far between.
I'm not saying I agreed with it because I'm in favor of it. But when I hear the expression "purist", this is the closest reference that I have taken it as. But I'm sure you are right, a tank like that would be pretty cool.
Say, since I have both you and Alix in the same chat, either of you ever come up with my drawing, or have both of you forgotten about it?
i didnt forget about it... i played around with the idea for a while and i have to admit, i couldnt make anything that i would let see the light of day. i got a new editing program though, once i play around with that more and figure it out, ill try again. lol. sorry.
