Heniochus Butterfly Question?

Thread Starter
I currently have FOWLR tank 75 gallon with following:

2 False Perc
1 Coral Beauty
Inverts like 2 cleaner shrimp and cleaning crew

Can I add Heniochus Butterfly fish? If so how about 2?

I want to add 1 or 2 bubble tip anemone and some corals later on. I have read Heniochus are reef safe (with some caution). Well are they?

I have also heard that they are tough to keep alive; How true is this?

Let me know if there will be any problems. Thanks

I do here they are reef safe I cant give you the best info as some others but i can tell you you might want to only get one for you 75 and they can be reef safe. I want one for my 120 but I dont think i will get one.

I've never kept on in a reef; but (IMO) they are one of the easiest butterflies to keep. Howeve, I think they do better in pairs or groups and a 75 gal is probably too small for a pair. IMO, it isn't a perfect world and a 75 is close enough where you could try them, probably be ok, and not be put on a guilt trip. BTW, I think these are fantastic fish and a great "first" butterfly.

I have one in my 125. He has never messed with any of my mushrooms. Great fish.... I will probibly get one or two more. He is very active. One of those fish that NEVER sleep. He swims around the tank 24-7.

I don't know if these fish are any more ich-prone than usual; but any fish can carry this parasite without ever showing a symptom. Then, in the confines of captivity, the problem explodes. IMO, ALL fish should ALWAYS be Qtd and every hobbiest should read the thread, by Beth, on this forum to become very familiar with this parasite. An understanding of the ich life cycle is a vital bit of knowledge for every hobbiest, IMO.

I think they should be qt longer then other fish, mine start to show symptom 21 days after i bought it,so if i buy a butterfly i would qt him for at least 4 weeks!!
