My uncle got a free tank from his brother in law.

Its a 6'x1.5'x2' all glass aquarium.

Right now he has two sharks in a fifty five gallon tank and they're getting a little big for it.

I'm going to help him set it up but its been a while since I've worked on any tank other than mine.

What do I tell him?

We already have the stand repainted, the glass tank washed and cleaned, and placed inside the house where he wants it to be placed.

I'm going to start searching the internet to see what I can find out and come out with so I can help him already.

We plan to have a sump, skimmer, but thing is that I'm not very comfortable drilling his tank.

Any help here?

Even in a 6' tank you might be running the possibility of having too small of a tank for the sharks. Mind you, I don't know the species of shark that he has but most of them that I've seen in captivity require a large tank (10' or greater).

My best advice is to contact your local LFS and see about a trade out to give the sharks their best chance. In a 6' tank I'm worried that they're going to be extremely stressed and possibly lead to other problems.

I've seen sharks being kept successfully in larger tanks but I'm afraid that a 6' is even too small for keeping sharks. Just my opinion.

Take it for what it's worth.

Well what I understand is that his bro in law is a big fish tank dude and has this humongous pond where he plans to give it back to him once they grow a bit.

I too wasn't so sure about his decision in bringing sharks home, in fact, he wanted to give me one but I had to say no. Its either let him keep those sharks in his 55g or have me spend time and get into his new setup.
