Aquacultured Live Rock

With all the poaching of the reefs that goes on, I just had to share this:

There's a company in FL that aquacultures its own live rock. They have a video posted on their site showing how they leased a spot in the Gulf of Mexico from the Federal government and dumped millions of pounds of rocks in it to make it "live".

Obviously I can't post a link because they sell live rock as does SWF, but I just thought this was great.

Do a search on "Tampa Bay" and "Live Rock" and you should find it easily.

I have a bunch of pieces of D.I.Y. rock that I made last year and then didn't like the appearance of them. I am a scuba diver, so I've been contemplating the notion of making some new shapes, affixing a name tag to them (or actually carving my name into the D.I.Y. rock) and placing them in the ocean, offshore, at a location where I can find them again in a year. Basically the same thing that place in Tampa is doing, just on a smaller scale.

Does anyone know if this would qualify as being in possession of a "live rock" within the EEZ? (I hope not as it's illegal.)
