Finally got this tank all set up and cycling.

Let me know what you think. Any suggestions? Does my skimmer seem to be working correctly?

Looks great.....what is in the skimmer? You just set this up and you already have crud

Its a Octopus BH-2000. The tank was up without the live rock for a week or so and I had no crud. Once I added the live rock I started getting the crud. The live rock has been in there since last Friday. Not sure how I feel about the rock yet. It has nice shapes but I was expecting it to have more color I think. Its 50 pounds of Vanuatu. I think it may have been out of water too long during shipping.

How much rubble should I put in my fuge?? I have 5 pounds of sand in it and a few pieces of rubble I had from the box of rock. I have one more pieced of rubble I can put in but it has coraline on it so I thought keeping it in the display would be better for now.

Thanks. It took forever to get it right.

How do you think my flow will be? I have 2 750 gph Koralias on there now. I also have the fuge and skimmer that produce a flow. I'm thinking about adding a smaller one to the left side of the tank and having it point directly across the top of the rock work. Can't hurt right?

Just checked the mail and my Refractometer arrived. Sooooo much better than a Hydrometer. First time I have ever owned one.

LOL...make you feel like a chemist

I think your flow is good....you may want to add some to the bottom though, maybe bottom left back pointing towards the front glass.....so it will circulate around (if one will fit there)

That seems like a good idea. Mid way down on the back left side? or a few inches off the sand bed? I'm sure I can fit another one. If not I will find a way to make it work.

Sounds good. I will have to find a smaller powerhead. Not a ton of room back there. Time for some online shopping. The 5th pic in the original post shows wher I will have to fit it. I want something with a magnet too.

Definitely check out the Koralias......Hard to tell from a pic, but you could maybe get a 3 in there....or at least a 2.....there isn't that much difference....

are the ones I have right now 2 or 3's? They are 750 gph. The site I bought them off didn't list them as numbers. Unless I missed it.
Well the new Hydor Koralias are not listed by #'s......they have a 750, 1050, and 1450

they are great,,,,,I have one of each...LOL....so if you bought a 750 you probably got the hydor 750...Is the front a little on the flat side????

I would recommend them anyday, same maker, but better model

Yup the front is flat. Here is a pic.

I'm not sure if a 750 will fit in that corner. I may have to throw the nano version back there. It pumps 425 gph.

Well since you have one you can try it

The Koralia 1 is 400.....the Koralia 2 is 600

you just want to push some water around the bottom areas.....
