Thanks guys!! That shot was under metal halides only. No actinic lights. Thought I would try a different angle with it. I appreciate the compliments :)

Hey thanks! I am thinking that it may need to be reaquascaped a little. I don't know. More news: All new additions are alive and well. All the snails munching away, and the little shrimp is doing his thing lol.  My sand bed looks crappy again, so I may remove it. I am unsure. Should I let it ride out and see what happens, or go crazy and siphon it a couple times a week? Decisions, decisions...

Have you all ever looked back at old pics of your tank? LOL. I just did and thought I'd share. Tank was started in sept. 2010.  I miss the days of white sand :(

In the beginning: the barren wasteland lol

Later On: Some improvement

Thanks lol. I think lol. It's funny, we have the same lights and we were using the same salt until recently, we both have some of the same algae lol......wonder what the problem is?? I appreciate the compliment Meow. Your new lights should make everything take off. :)

Very cool tank progression!

I'd do mine, but the 180 has only been running since June 2011, so I probably should wait longer.

I had the same issues in my 155 with the same lights, lol. Biggest thing that I contribute it all to: Undrilled large tank. Now that I own one that is drilled, it's amazing how much different water flows through it.

Thanks Guys. BTLDreef, I have a lot of flow, and now with the fx-5 I think I am seeing improvment. I was asking what the problem was because meowzer said she can't get certain things to grow. She had the same lights on her tank as me, etc.

Al: Thanks, I thought it would be cool to show the progression. I was at the lfs the other day and saw baby green chromis and laughed because I can't remember when mine were that little and cute. So, I went picture hunting.....:)

That is so funny I just say some little baby chromis as well, so cute.  I have one from my original stocking that is in his prime right now.  Was thinking of getting a few more but sometimes if it don't itch don't scratch.  My two new baby clowns are going in the 40B in a couple of days they have been in QT for 23 days now and doing very well.  Thanks again for sharing.

I know. I was gonna buy another one, and decided not to. If your clowns are doing good, sounds like you have had them in QT for long enough. Time to add them!!! Pics when you do lol. thumbsup.gif

Well, I believe that the dinos are almost, if not, gone. No more noticeable slime. The algae that is left seems to be the lobo. It is spreading quite rapidly. The other type is the hairy fuzz. Like hair but not. My only option at this point is to remove the worst rocks, scrub them, soak them in the algaefix (the only thing that kills the lobo), scrub again, leave in the dark for awhile, and put back into the tank. I hate to do this, but if I want to keep this tank going, I don't have a choice. It will help me get a handle on the lobo that is getting out of control and get rid of the fuzz. Also, I think I am gonna remove all sand on the outer parameter of the rocks which seems to hang on to this fuzzy mat. Will replace it later. :)

I have just completed a 40g water change, and tomorrow I will remove the rocks with the most lobo on them (the ones in the center) and scrub them. Place them into a tote with algaefix marine and no light. I will flip over any I can since that will kill it too. Not concerned about it too much, but it is starting to become an eye sore. My nitrates were reading 20 today for some reason, so I will do daily water changes for awhile. Wonder if I should add another large fuge?  Good news is that I dont see anymore dino at all. party.gif Whoo hoo. It has been defeated lol. Bad news is I am out of aquavitro salt :(  I do have other brands I can use until I get it. Lots of work to do lol.
