I've read some posts about hydras and I think I've spotted some in my tank. The only thing is that they are really really small and based on the posts, hydras seem bigger. How small can a hydra be?

It's way too small. It is attached to the rock and was able to catch a mysis that hit it. The shrimp was walking around there and whenever his leg touched on, he pulled his leg back. Their diameter is less than a hair's and they have little offshoots that make them look polyp like. The people at my LFS couldn't help me with identification, although they thought spaghetti worm, but that doesn't look right. When touched they do not retract.

If you think you have hydra then you need to remove it as far as I know.
