Some fanged blennies are NASTY. I got a nice bite from one (White Fang Blenny) years ago working in an LFS. I'll never own one after that, got infected and the whole nine.

I know what you mean, I'm in my LFS's (there's so many near me) at least each one once a week, and one of them almost every day. It's bad. I was in there tonight and they're getting a shipment of fish overnight, so I'll be there first thing in the AM digging through boxes to see if they got any Blue Spot Jawfish, Mystery Wrasses or Orange Spot Filefish. Keep your fingers crossed, maybe they'll have all 3 :)

The "one spot blenny" is that a tail spot?

No its not a tail spot blenny, it looks like the one spot on the doctors site photo.  HOWEVER, it is not that green at all.  Its more white and grey.  It does sit on the bottom sifting sand so we know its an algea eater.  I doubt whether that LFS will hang onto that fish for the 4 months before i can add it into my system anyways.

What I can do is take photos of the fish we are about to buy and post them here and we can all have a debate as to what they really are, well with the blenny atleast.  I think everything else we have picked out would be to simple to guess.

The only pic I can find of a one spot is no where near the same color as the one at the store.  He's brown and white/grey.  But he definitely has the one spot on the top

That blenny is fine...

I hate how some fish have 5 different names

Ok, since i now have my LR in place and all the hitchhikers that it came with, its time to change up the coral/inver list.

I feel that I do not need to purchase any feather dusters as of last count, we have well over 50 of them in the tank varying from the normal plain type to like 3 or 4 of the Coco type.  But i have a question that i need some real experienced person to answer:

How hard is it to remove a feather duster from the underside of a rock and not damage the tube or hurt the worm in the process?  I have a worm under a rock and its soo big and beautiful that i would rather see it get its just deserts up at the front of the tank.

I also feel that the brain coral is not needed as my wife has picked out some things that look really cool to me too.

Bird's Nest Coral ( how hard is this stuff?  the LFS said it was tempermental and needs good water )

Bubble coral ( is there a real difference in the colors?)

And maybe a frag or 2 of Zoas.

Will my lighting work ok for that stuff?  I have 2x white 12K T5HO lights and 2x T5 blues.

Birds nest is sps.....need good lighting and a very stable established tank  (so they say)   I hear they are easy, but I have not had any luck....(sort of...I am posting a thread on mine in a minute)

You do realize the mini dusters do not get bigger....a regular feather duster is MUCH bigger

bubble coral also needs good lighting

Well, a small frag of the bird's nest is only $20 at the LFS and I think i can try my luck with it down the line.

I have a really big duster under the rock.  I will attempt to get a good pic of it.  I have an OK pic of it in the ID thread.

Well, my lighting is ok i think, but what do I know?  I have seen 18K T5HO lights at the LFS for $15 for the bulbs.  Obviously they are better, but do I need all that for the bird's nest and bubble coral?

GOSH...I am not a good one for lighting bulbs

Nikesb has helped me with all of mine......pm him....LOL....he won't mind ..I tell everyone to ask him

since its a birdnest, they should do fine under the current bulbs, you may want to change your bulbs to better bulbs in the future for better performance and better coloration. what fixture is it btw? what what bulbs? i was assuming you were still using the stock bulbs. FYI, 15$ t5ho bulbs are probably not great performers so keep an eye out for brands like ATI, Aquascience, Korallen Zucht, and Geissman

The current fixture is a coralwave i believe, let me check.  Nope, its a wavepoint retrofit kit.  2x white and 2x blue.  bulbs are 12K t5HO.  The bulbs I found were GLO bulbs, do those not work as well?  The brands you listed, are those the ones to stay away from or are those the ones to buy?

the glo bulbs are crap, your stock bulbs are much better than those. the brands listed are the bulbs to work your way towards, since your bulbs are fairly new, just keep in mind the brands i'm suggesting for future purchases

I found some Geissman that I could order in a little while.  I guess I will wait for another 6 months or so before ordering them.  Will the bubble coral work under the current lights or should I have to upgrade for them?

bubble coral will be just fine. all lps will do fine under stock manufacturer bulbs
