Right, but what kind specifically?  I found a retrofit kit that has one bar filled with LEDs for moonlight.  It was $50 for the bar and power supply.  My wife didnt balk at the price and we cant find anything at the LFS around us.  Its too bad the online place is out of stock and SWF.com doesnt sell what I am looking for.

Signature Series Moonlight LED Aquarium Lighting Fixtures,

Its 56 gallon column style.  Its 30" long and I have a canopy over it.  I have my regular lights mounted to the canopy and I was looking for a retro to mount up there as well.  If I could get it out of its fixture, then maybe.  But for the same price I can get what I am looking for, once it is in stock.

My husband modded LED's that were really meant for accent lighting in an automobile.

Could you tell me a little more about how your husband did this?  That sounds like a project I could handle (though hubby might disagree LOL)

He would have had to modify them to change the running voltage from 12 DC to 120 AC would have to be step 1.  As I said, I found a light bar that would fit that is only $50.  I might just go ahead and order it as everyone in the house is getting new toys, but me.

Wife just got a new cell phone + new kitten

Kids just got a Nintendo DSiXL + game

I got, well the aquarium is for everyone really, LOL

He used an old phone charger and sliced the wires to switch over the voltage. Then you just have to fiddle with the wires a little, wiring different ways will lend to different brightnesses of the light. He goes with the brightest and then stops. He said it's really easy if you have any wiring knowledge at all.

Don't let him fool you, the salt water tank might be enjoyed by all but it is HIS and none of our "toys" cost over $1000!  That and he LOVES the kitten as much as I do AND the DSi was supposed to be for him, it just gets monopolized by the kids.  So don't you all go feelin' sorry for him! LOL
