UH.....is that a yellow tang I see......i was about to say nice tank till I saw that, sorry man.....but NO YELLOW TANG in a 20G

Tank is off to a good start.

Get the yellow tang OUT of a 20G tank, that fish needs another 80G of water to swim in!

How long have you owned the flame scallop? Have you done any research on these guyes?

Do I see a hippo tang in the reflection as well? The yellow tang is unsuited for that tank, but having 2 tangs in a tank that small is bad news.

Like the anemones though

Good catch!

NO TANGS IN LESS THAN 90G! especially not a hippo!

Anemones don't belong in tanks younger than 6months.

+1...BUT I'd like to add....it's really the fish that are paying.....how would you like to sleep on a 3' bed, have a ceiling that is 4" tall....a room that is 3x3

the fish will start getting so stressed they get sick...and they die....nothing happens to you....you're out a few bucks, but you're still alive

The problem is that just because you bend the rules, doesn't mean that the fish can.  Tangs are very active open water swimmers. Even if your tangs are small enough for the tank right now (which is never true), an environment that is too small for them will cause them to be unhealthy, stressed out fish. It's just not right.

If you want to bend the rules, join politics or become an inventor, don't do it with an animal that depends on your for its care.

Id also like to point out that a yellow tang can get to 6 - 8inches and a blue tang can grow to 12 inches. From the pics, the yellow tang is looking thin (IMO) which can be a sign of stress

(I had to do it)

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who saw that the YT looks unhealthy.

stop telling people to relax. everyone here only wants whats best for the fish and for your tank. its not only the fact that they need bigger tanks, but its that the fishes also need that volume of water for their bioload, which would be exponentially greater than lets say a clownfish or goby. we're not trying to be rude, but don't join a hobby where its not meant to "bend the rules."

id also like to say that theyll never be able to live long enough to get near there adult size if you keep them in there.

The yellow tang does indeed look to be on the skinny side - you can see his ribs.  I'm not the tang police, but I'd strongly suggest getting him out of there...he's definitely got to the point where he needs a few more feet of up front real estate to prowl.

I'm going to disagree on the hippo, though.  To me that looks like one of those quarter-sized hippos that my LFS gets in from time to time.  From what I've read and seen at the store, these guys have a lousy survival rate - they're essentially babies and they're fairly weak.  One of my LFS buddies (the guy I trust) said he'd tried one of these in his 220 and it died from being chased by the bigger fish.... basically it wasn't given a safe haven to eat and grow.  A smaller tank would be like a nursery as long as it had peaceful fish in it.  So yeah - if I had to I might keep a tiny hippo in a 20L until he grew to about 2.5 to 3 inches.  But then I'd MOVE HIM TO A 6 FOOT TANK!!

Now, other than the "tang issue" that's been done - the tank itself looks very nice!  That big torch of yours looks beautiful.

just get the yellow tang out please.
