i am new to the forum but i believe they are glass anemones some will disagree but i use a hypodermic needle and put lemon juice in them or they could just be feather dusters before taking any action wait for other responses i am not 100% on this

I think some type of barnacle, if it has a duster worm like tube then its what I was thinking of and OK. If not then they do look like some type of anemone.

Are they completely soft, or do they have a hard part?

well, what ever they are, i believe i found the fix, about 4 days ago i purchased a mandarin and a copper banded butterfly fish, and i believe the copper banded is eating them, it apears the numbers of these little pest are dwinding. and futher note, they turn into what looks to be small brownish jelly fish.

Then they are hydroids.

If it were me I would get the new bulkheads. The fewer the connections the less chance for possible leaks.
