so about a month ago i bought a white bta anemone with purple tips. recently it has started to turn light brown and seems to be getting darker. does anyone know the reason for this?

A white anemone is a bleached anemone. A bleached anemone is bleached because it has expelled its zooxanthle. A BTA that is getting brown is producing its zooxanthle which is a sign of a healthy nem. This is a very good thing, since the anemone was in bad shape when you got it. The zooxanthle is necessary for the nem to survive.

What lighting do you have?

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say the lighting you have is better then the LFS's......the anemone is probably supposed to have a color

have you ever heard....there is really NO anemone that is white

HEY...Do you have a pic of it

The purple tip part sounds like a differant type of anemone , WHat color is the foot of the anemone?

looks more like a sebae to me from that pic. They have the purple tips and the tentacles look the same.

A stressed out sick anemone from capture or handling is white..I have one.

As it gets healthy it will turn dark...So congratulations.

LOL...I like it white, it's prettier but healthy is better.
