I didn't buy it, I just brought the water with me when I bought the tank.

 

It was set up at his house and we took it down and I brought it home

 

I was under the impression that if I brought some of the water with me it would help keep the tank established

IMO your tank would have been better served with fresh saltwater

 Ok, well it is saltwater now, so that's done.

 

What are your readings as of today?

 

I see that you were able to get the ammonia back down, is it staying there?

Tests  today are

 

Temp    79.9F

Salinity   1.020

PH        8.2

Ammonia       .25ppm     before water change          0 after

Nitrite             0ppm

Nitrate           0ppm

I'm not even sure the .25 after 5 minutes it was 0 but I let it sit for another half hour by accident and it chaged to .25

You could always just retest to make sure.

So sorry I haven't posted in a while

 

I got rid of the damsel today, he was harassing the hawkfish and the marine beta wouldn't even come out of hiding.

when I came back from the petstore the beta was already out and everyone seemed happier

 

I now see why people say to avoid damsels

 

 

I'm thinking about adding a firefish or two this weekend. too early?

 

I have continued to test 0 for everything and my fish seem to be doing good

 

 

Im really surprised by the constant 0 nitrates. am I just doing a good job or  should I think about investing in a new test
