Well, I already replied to your PM, but I figured I'd post here now that I'm back home and not on the phone.

The lighter (I will refer to as turquoise) one is the nicer of the two clams. If you look at the blue one (second picture), there is a flaw in the coloration on it's mantle. While I don't think that this flaw has any effect on the health of the clam and is just a naturally occurring change in pigmentation, I would NOT pay that much for a common blue maxima clam that had a flaw like that. The teal one is really nice, looks very healthy (from what you can see in a picture) and has a nice color to it, to me, that one is definitely worth the money.

I hope your tangs leave this one alone. I'm still trying to catch my beast (Sailfin Tang).

Good luck, can't wait to see pics of this!

If my tangs can pick up a 5" clam.....they need to be in a circus...LOL.....they have never bothered the crocea...and that was 3-4"......I am thinking cause it was too big.....

my small maxima is doing well in the 29Gbanana.gif

So as I look at this pic more, I'm even more confident that you got the better specimen, the other doesn't have as nice of a mantle, it doesn't look as even to me and I'm not happy with the right side of the mantle. This could be the angel that the picture was taken at, but again, I would not spend the money on that one. You definitely picked the better clam.

I like the color better as well and probably would have chose it just based on that, but wanted to give you a little more assurance in your purchase LOL

Thank you......I can't wait to see it in person....the crocea is doing great......the small gold maxima is doing good since I put it in the 29G, the derasa in the 29G is fine as long as it is hiding in the back (LOL)...so I hope this one will also do well....it's sooooo pretty

Very nice. I think your gonna be real happy with the color you chose. And 5" is a nice size clam for that price. So what camera did you get?
