There are a lot of other forum with DIY glass tanks, calculators for rimless or rimmed, the most important part is the silicon and there are some real high quality one's specifically for making tanks, google it, I have been hinking about trying it myself.

Nissan that tanks looks really good, can't wait to see what you do with it, good luck

So the question is was it a "trick" to put together. Did he show you the magical step that only the tank artist know? Or is it silicone and glass???

I am certain that there is an art to it and I dont want to take anything away from it just have been interested in building a tank. Probably shouldn't but I shouldn't have done a lot of things that I have done. laughing.gif

he did show me how to do it but he did the silicone and everything all i did was hold the glass and move it in place :) lol, he does do some tricks to it but its easy to do. but one thing is he makes sure all the corners are lined up

i was thinking the same thing! i was looking online just last night for prices on how much it would be to build my own acrylic tank and it was about 10-15% of what they were charging for a new pre built tank. you dont have to have any braces to hold all that water? your tank is waht 90 gal? what if you were to build something 3 times that size. idk if i would trust it if i built it myself!!! lol

lol, if you ever need a tank built let us know and he can do it very cheap :)

i really dont know but i call it the metal brace so we can hold the glass still so it can be straight :) and not move to the side

Really nice. That overflow tank is pretty funky. So it spills over into a basin and then a sump? Do the critters climb out? Cant wait to see the next pictures.

Check out ZeroEdge aquariums.

"The water flows over all four sides of the aquarium into an overflow channel that runs around the entire perimeter of the tank. There are drains located in this area of the system that allows the water to circulate between the sump and the tank itself. The ZeroEdge Aquarium offers an industry first Integrated Drain Assembly (patent pending). Simply set the ZeroEdge Aquarium on the cabinet stand and the drain connection is complete. It’s that easy. No annoying hassles with bulkheads, clamps and drain hoses. This streamlined plumbing design eliminates leaking bulkheads and drain hoses ensuring years of worry free service. Apart from being easy to set up you will find the draining to be amazingly quiet. It’s gentle channeling of water to the sump also cuts down on evaporation. There is no splashing or fizzy bubbles typically found in standard reef aquariums because there are no drain lines to sumps and messy return lines that agitate the surface water. All you see is a smooth glass-like surface."
