240G Tank Stand & Canopy Build - Page 5

So the potters wrasse didn't ship, they sent me a mated pair of blue star wrasses instead. I expect at least a week before they come out the sand. Hard fish to keep, but I will give it a shot. Also was able to add to my coral collection with a Pink Aussie Hammer Coral. Colors are awesome under LEDs. If I stop buying corals I can probably buy the rest of my lights lol. Hard to past up on the rare corals.

Mad Money, I wish, I have been getting crazy deals from local hobbyist. Stores don't regularly carry what I wan't because what they have to charge to make a profit on it, it would just sit. So I beg local reefers to supply me at a fair price. I also swap a lot of frags with others. Sometimes I get the more expensive item, sometimes they do, it equals out in the end.

Pictures will probably be done tomorrow, not much to show, most everything is still frags.

Also Added:

Purple Queen Anthia - x 3
Lyretail Anthia - x 1

I have 2 red firefish prepaid that are coming in then I won't be buying another fish until I finish the lights. It's time that I wrap up this tank build and start a Tank Diary thread.

So im now officially obsessed with my Purple Queen Anthia, one of the most beautiful fish I have ever seen. Even better than all the pictures ive seen.

The guy I bought them off of was actually going to put them in his tank.

So started thinking where my max out will be, what do you think?

10 Blue Green Chromis
1 Fu Manchu Lionfish
1 Red Firefish
1 Midas Blenny
3 Pink Square Anthias
3 Barlett's Anthias
1 Mystery Wrasse
1 McCosker's Flasher Wrasse
1 Mandarin Dragonet

3 Purple Queen Anthia

1 Lyretail Anthia

So that's what I have now.

I want to add:

2 More Pink Squares female

2 More Red Firefish

3 Purple Firefish

1 Sohal Tang

1 more wrasse of some kind

I think that will max my system out. Outside of the tang the other fish average 3-4 inches max. Any thoughts? All fish are considered "peaceful" well as peaceful as a lighted water box can be. I'm not worried about bio load at this point as I think I have over 350 lbs of LR in the tank and another 40-50 in the refugium. Plus a skimmer rated at 350 with a medium load. So im sure it can handle 240G with a heavy one.

Comments?

After some more research, im removing the sohal tang from my list. It appears as this fish gets pretty aggressive. I am looking for a more peaceful fish. Not looking for a common fish, want something that's rarely on the list.

Thanks, I have comprised a list of corals that I want. This one wasn't on the list, but as soon as I saw it I had to have it. Made a deal at 10$ a head for it!

Been a while since I updated added a few things.

Helfrich Firefish

Corals:

Rainbow Rapter Zoas

X-Men Zoas

Purple People Eater Zoas

Magician Zoas

Pink Aussie Wall Hammer

Orange Aussie Torch (MY FAVORITE)

Orange Digi Montipora

Now to the Build:

I have added added an automatic neck cleaner (Cleaner 200) made by ReefOctopus for my SRO3000INT skimmer. Love it. No longer have to mess around with the skimmer every day. Just a quick wipe down when I do the bi-weekly water changes.

I also am 24 LEDs away from my completed lighting fixture. Lastly I have my chiller and a pump waiting to be connected to dial in the temp to within .5 degrees.

After this is all complete I will take this thread and move it to a Tank Diary in another forum. As I don't think that there is anything more to be built, on this thread. After all its been over a year. LOL
