Pricey Corals, what would you pay? - Page 2

I'm moving 15 minutes from Mr. Corals store YIPPEE, lol

I am not an expensive fish/coral person...

My philosophy is if you love and are willing to pay the asking price then buy it.. if you think its overpriced then ask for a lower price...

Especially if its a piece the store has grown out or fragged itself...

once i move across the street my lfs sells aussie dounuts .2.5-3 inch with some amazing colors for a bit under $200 i will be buying a couple by late spring.just have to build my house in the next few months first.oh and buy my bigger tank, lights, sand, pump etc. etc.

Can't quite bring myself to pay over $100 on any piece of coral... yet. The most expensive coral I've bought was a big colorful Wellso Brain that I fell in love with, which cost me $56 and I'm tempted to buy a nice sized and well shaped Christmas Favia that currently sitting in my LFS for $79... but if some one else gets it I'm not losing any sleep over it!

I could spens up too $125 on a polyp, and $100 on some SPS. As far as chalices go though. I would do $300.

Have you seen sexycorals or jayson fox's website? That treasure chest cornbred is insnae for $100. And that koolaid is sweet too.

I have quite a few expensive pieces. You just get to that point in this hobby where you own all the basic things. Luckily there are a lot of local reefers in my area so we trade pieces which significantly cuts down the cost. If I had to pay full price for all my pieces, I'd be broke!

Agreed, a local guy got me a 2 eye frag of an oregon mummy eye chalice for $50. And that is one of my brightest pieces

That's a lot!

When I trade/buy privately, I won't pay that kind of money. For example, I recently bought healthy size frags of Setosa, Pink Lemonade, Rainbow Monti, Sunset Monti all for $50.

The most expensive piece in my tank is $25, but I've only bought retail twice, all others at frag swaps.

Well i have access to REALLY high end stuff from rockymountainfrags.com and zoanthids.com

both are local for me.. and if you can get a 2 eye frag of Oregon Mummy Eye for $50 let me know where.

Lol

Its in my tank. I have one with about 5 eyes and one with 2. Got both along with a Miami hurricane with 10+ eyes and a no namer for $50.

there are so many locals in the hobby with high end stuff that I can get just about anything after someone has grown it out in their tank.

Meowzer, you know my local forum, go shop!

very true......I may just do that....LOL

I dont, not yet anyway. :D I got a guy up here with a no namer chalice that is the brightest thing i have ever seen. twice as bright as a OME, but pink and gold.
