How long can a Derasa clam be kept in a shipping bag from SWF.com ? thanks

You might do better to ask "is X amount of time under Y conditions" OK.

One of the key things is not to open the bag, as once the bag is opened, the accumulated NH3 will become toxic as the pH rises due to fresh O2 taking the place of CO2.

thanks, this is the story. I am getting an order from SWF tomorrow . I ordered a clam for a friend that will be getting it on Wed. Should I just leave it in the shipping bag ? Should I acclimate it to my tank and take it out Wed. ?

If the clam is shipped dry then it can last a week or so as long as it is kept warm.  If it's shipped in water then 48 hours is probably too long.

It is shipped in water. I recommend acclimating it to your tank until your friend can get it.
