Okay, so the polyp is standing tall and doing well on the ceramic frag plug and new little ones are coming up at the base. My question is how do they finally "move" or spread off of the plug and onto the live rock to colonize? Thanks, Nick

Through the same method that you mentioned, they spread out the same way growing new polyps and extending its base outward.

As more grow, they will spread out on to surrounding rocks.
