Sadly ours died last week (pump malfunctioned and caught fire which had a domino effect of other water issues). He would hop along the front of our 200 gallon tank, loved to race back n forth....

Picked up my CB Target Mandarin from our FedEx station this morning. To say I'm disappointed about the condition of this fish is putting it mildly. I've yet to see a fish so skinny and still...

If the place OR person you are ordering from knows what they are doing YES
For instance SWF.com will ship them to you in a styrofoam cooler with ice packs this time of year (heat in the winter)
and are they good with getting back to you if you have a problem read mix reviews on google

Most reputable places such as this site are very good about shipping in all weather. If they feel that it is excessively hot or cold, they won't ship and will notify you. It's rare that an item absolutely can't be shipped, so you might have to wait a week or two (for instance, if there's a snow storm that impedes shipping).
SWF is good about they're guarantee and if you notify them of a loss, they'll replace it. I live on Long Island. I've ordered in the middle of the summer and the middle of the winter without any issues.

I also live in upstate NY and I will order from here because I dont have a LFS near me except Petco and I will not buy any live stock from the one near me because their tanks are terrible. I also have a Co-op that sells fish I did buy my clowns from there and they are doing fine but the guy that runs the pet part does not know what he is doing so my business there will be limited. I will let you know how it goes when I place my first order from here unless you get one before me.

I agree. I have ordered from SWF and the customer service has been fantastic. I rarely have any losses and they are very flexible with shipping methods. I have had to switch the shipping days and they were very flexible. I also have switched from getting the shipment delivered to my house to hold at fed ex, and they did it without hesitation. I have found that during the harsh summer and winter months it is best to have the shipments held at fed ex. Honestly, I have had the best luck ordering from SWF.
BTW, I'm from Jersey not too far from NY.

Hello,
We definitely ship to New York with standard overnight delivery. You can even opt to upgrade to priority for an additional $10 which ensures a morning delivery. Many precautions are taken when shipping marine life. We pack bags with an oxygen to water ratio that allows the marine life to remain stable for up to 48 hours in case something is delayed (delays occur maybe 1% of the time, its just a precaution). If you ever need anything, my name is Mary and I'm at x 4.
The members of this board are very friendly and resourceful. Thanks for the great info and helping a new customer out!
