2 anthias dead out of 4... T___T

I don't know what is going on.. parameters are all perfect... this morning found cleaner shrimp feasting on a dead one...

I have never been able to keep anthias   :(     I have heard that they are very bad shippers, and hard to acclimate

I tried a couple different times, and after a couple hundred bux  GAVE UP

Male anthias will kill each other off if that is what you ended up with.

Lois - thing is that it was eating, albeit not so much as pigging out tangs but still eating and hiding but still alive and I thought 2 weeks of observation and acclimating would have been ok for it to live.

spanko - all of them were females under recomendation.

How often do you feed them? They have really fast metabolisms and need to eat frequently.

For the anthias, I fed twice a day.

From everything I have read trying to figure out what I wanted in my tank the 4 anthias should have been the first fish in your tank. They are very timid fish and should be settled before more aggressive fish are introduced. So sorry for your loss.

2tang - You are absolutely right. They are extremely skittish and I have to over feed extremely just to make sure they eat properly.. :/

Sorry to disagree. Maybe it happens with certain ones, because mine (dispar anthias) were added next to the last fish and all have done great. Give them time to adjust. And try the frozen plankton like I suggested. :)

Hey Karla, I have been feeding them frozen plankton at your recommendation and the smallest one is THRIVING.  Medium size one's color started to change today (like a male color a bit) but she doesn't look so hot and won't eat as much as she used to... I hope she pulls through...

1.024

zero across the board

calcium - 460

alk - 9

everything else is thriving.

Wait... no it isn't...

my bi polar I mean.. my bi color angel is psycho and is harassing my clam and I'm two seconds away from taking her out and turning her into a sashimi... sigh...

well that's my tank right now in a nut shell.

Good. Give them time Richard. On another note, angels are prone to nip at clams. That is why after adding the flame angel, I did not try another clam in my tank :(

It's not only you   :(    I have lost many many  things since starting this hobby .....it's just part of it I guess (for us anyhow)   LOL

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. I have lost a few things since starting the hobby. Each tank is different and certain things do well in one tank and not so good in others. Just look at how royal gramma's Florida Joe has lost.

He lost another one? I thought he just got one not too long ago.

Man it's rough losing fish no matter how you look at it. :/

Now to salvage my clam... I think I'm going to make a trap for my angel fish to remove him and give him to my buddy Jack.

Thanks Lois.

Keith, Keith, Keith, you always know ways to make things bit easier lol.

Spanko apparently agrees(?)

Update.

My torch coral was creating a new head and for some reason, it's not looking too good..

I see small amount of brown film. That means bad right?

If it's brown jelly disease, is it contagious?
