i have 2 clownfish, one has already died, now the other one id showing sighns of dieing, its strting to breath heavy and slowing down. I might already know what the problem is, its a 10 gallon and in there is 1 clown, 2 firefish gobies and 1 chromis and a starfish. The reason im in this situation is because my living situation changed a month ago and had to breake down my 55 and put everything in a 10 gallon. When i have the money im getting a 20 gallon, but that will be a wile cus im too broke :(. Another issue is i have strted using tap water for evap cus i have nothing else on hand (will use RO/DI when i get 20 gall). The tank still looks clean though. So meny problems and all i can do is watch all my fish die...

just tested, all perimiters are fine.

How long have you owned them?

With good water quality in a 10 gal, I wouldn't necessarily blame the tank size.

How long have you had the clowns, and are they a mated pair?

Can you tell us what they are?

How long has the tank been going?  How did you cycle it?

salinity is 0.023 tested with refactometer

ammonia is 0

nitrite is 0

nitrate is 0

PH is around 8.0

tank has been going for about a month, it is cycled. the clown fish is doing better, he will get to move to the 29 gallon once its fully cycled.

oh and i dont think they where a mated pair, i added them seperetly, the just swam together and twitched and stuff, they might have been paring up but now that one id dead i guess not any more. im going to get another clown after the new tank is cycled

You may think about waiting to add the new clown till you get everything cycled then moved to the 29.. that way you can have the 10g set up as a quarantine tank just in case...
