My emperor angel arrived yesterday and i placed it in my quartine tank. My emperor is eating fine algae sheets pellets and mysis shrimp, i saw today 3 white dots on its tail. i was wondering if i should monitor it for now it give it vitamins with its food and see if that helps or treat it. thanks - mike

Continue it's quarantine for the full 8 weeks to make sure. Keep feeding well if you can. If it continues to spread, then treat it. Some people feed garlic and vitamin C supplements and say it works. It only boosts the immune system, it doesn't treat the disease.

Beth will be coming around any second...

Can you post a picture of this?  It could be ich, or maybe lymphocyctis.

Fresh garlic juice on food and selcon or zoecon is good choices.

its in the upper left corner, i tried my best to get a good picture.001.JPG002.JPG

Yeah, I really can't see anything.  If it is ich, the fish will break out soon enough with more then a couple of dots.  If it is lymphocyctis, then it is something that you will need to address by providing a good environment for the fish.

Do you have a refractometer to do hyposalinity?

Take a look at this link.  Using a magnifying glass may help you ID if this is your problem.

fish is doing good been doing dailey water changes and eats anything i put in there. white spots are still there think in may be velvet after looking at several pictures. should i try copper??

Its not velvet.  Velvet would have killed your fish already.

Given the information, I think it is likely lymphocyctis.

beautiful fish! good luck with the treatment!

I would suggest putting a background on that QT.  Fish get stressed from glare and reflections.

thanks, even if i dont turn the light on?? i have a 55gallon discus tank next to it which shines light on to it. i only turn the light to exam it. i have been doing water changes every other day, i think its lympho now that i look at it closely,(which will take a month to clear up correct??) fish eats like a monster and is not afraid, comes right up to the top to eat as soon as i come down the stairs.

That is a very nice fish only tank.  I always struggled keeping imitation coral clean.  How do you keep it clean?

Lympho will always be with this fish, even if he remains asymptomatic.  The goal will be to keep the fish well and healthy in a good environment with good nutrition.  That will be your best bet against having outbreaks of lympho.  Lympho is a virus, and will always remain with the fish.  After a month in QT, if you don't see any other issues, go ahead and put him in the display. Lympho is also contagious, so other fish may catch lympho from this fish.  It is a common virus.

WOW...clean is right...LOL...even the sand seems spotless.

I notice that lympho is common in emperor's i see them at pet store all around mt area with the same thing, Never see it in larger emperor's. And to answer your question about the fake coral, my cuc does and wonderful job, red and blue leg hermits and the turbo snalis goes crazy for the algae
