Sadly ours died last week (pump malfunctioned and caught fire which had a domino effect of other water issues). He would hop along the front of our 200 gallon tank, loved to race back n forth....

Picked up my CB Target Mandarin from our FedEx station this morning. To say I'm disappointed about the condition of this fish is putting it mildly. I've yet to see a fish so skinny and still...

Curious......I read back and Bang asked a couple questions and don't recall seeing an answer on them......You stated you tested your parameters; which your readings so ok.......What is your water source??? Seems odd that you stated your corals are fine, just fish issues.......From an earlier poster mentioned about circulation pump, rock leaning against glass.....Don't see the issue????
Rock tight against the glass makes cleaning a bit more difficult.
I'm more curious about your components/sump etc.....I had a friend a while ago (Jerry) that had a similar issue to a degree.....His was opposite of yours though....He could keep fish, but corals max 2 days......That's why I'm focusing more in the equipment area......A bit more details in that area, and again curious where you purchase your fish from??? How long were they at the store???? Have you run anything like a poly pad or such???? Maintenance routine???? Feedings????? Cleaning around the tank????? Stray voltage check????

+1 to what Shawn said.
One thing I don't understand is how did my sailfin tang 2 clowns 2 damsels manage to live in there but I can't put anything els. I had those fish for a long time I thought every thing was ok so I even went a got an Achilles tang. Poor guy didn't stand a chance. For the longest I would always think my sailfin was beating up every new guy. I took her out and then tried another fish and it died. I still miss her she was so little when we got her and in a little time she got so big. So any ways then I thought it was the clows some time when I would put my hand in there to clean he would take bits at me so then took him out and all the rest of my fish and still no fish can live in there but them. So rite now my tank is fishless I'm ganna leave it like that for a month maybe ill do 2 months just to be sure.

Ocean water?
I think RO/DI water with a high quality salt mixed in would be better....... just my opinion.
I would also ask your dealer the source of this "ocean water"
Maybe run some activated carbon?

Ocean water is fine because afterall that is where all these fish corals and rocks are from. the problem is what JP mentioned..what is the source of this water? Where exactly, how long does it take to deliver? Do you ever test the ocean water before you put it in your tank?
Your issue is not fish beating up other fish. It's not acclimating. Your corals are living. So areas to check are the above mentioned, flow patterns (mix it up don't have all circulation in a linear pattern), your equipment seems sufficient for what you have but again like another poster mentioned it can go faulty. Also what about PH ALK also Phosphates. What kit are you using to test PH? Do you add any water buffers when you do water change?
Also you may have a predator in your tank at night, after the lights are off for a while take a flashlight and check all around.

reeferchief, I agree with you on the predator. I would really look at the tank at night and see if there is anything.
RO/DI WATER. I don't remeber the name of my test kit and I have not tested for alk and phosphate. Yes when I do water changes some times I do use buffers. I test for ph the night before I do water change and if its kinda low next day when I do my water change I add ph buffer.

Those little bugs are copepods. Very good. And I think that the "arm" you are seeing is a type of brittle starfish IMO.

Why would you want to do that???
I think that you should thoroughly test your equipment before you do anything else. and also check your tank for stray voltage.

^^^^^^I'm with him on this one. Thoroughly test your water especially your PH from a good kit like salfert or something like that. Also check your equipment, my skimmer throws out stray voltage once in a while, but i'm protected!!!!

My water is ocean water I get from my dealer. What would you like to know about the Sump? I get all my fish from the same place I have seen fish in there for about 3 weeks to a little more then a month. I have tried to buy fish from other areas and the same thing happens. I have not ran a poly pad. I have check to make sure everything is working fine and it is. I also got a new heater just to triple make sure. I clean the protine skimmer cup ones a week and do a 10 gallon water change. My feeding is once a day. And I only clean the font and side glass not the back.

Sorry don't mean to jump in an out of the thread, but work first........That statement I highlighted is a big NO NO......Never entrust your water quality to anyone......Have you ever tested the water your getting from your dealer??? I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with the dealer, but I'd take small, swings at things......If you go hog wild and make multiple changes at the same time you might never really find what the issue is.
My first suggestion is to us RO/DI water.....Forgo the ocean water......Start with a know; "clean" water source. Could be picking up contaminants anywhere along the way. Where is he getting the water from??????

I completely agree.... I even mentioned this in some of my earlier posts in the thread.
