anyone have experience with reef keeper lite and elite modules? I need help

So I contacted Digital aqautics a couple weeks ago and explained that my RKL screen is not showing any values anymore, just backlit but not working. I told them I didn't want any down time so could they send a new piece and then I'd send back the deffective one.

They explained that the old one was probably defective due to a water issue but they would take a look at it. Told me to buy a new one and they would send it out and then credit me if the old one was bad.

First off, I'd like to say that most fish stores are at least as humid as my fish room and my unit hangs on the wall well above the tanks out of the way so it has never got direct water on it. Yet I get the impression that I'm going to not be seeing that credit.

So I buy the thing, 25 dollars in shipping later (Which is rediculous considering how small and light these things are)

I'm headed out of town tonight on vacation so i was hoping to have the new one in place and set up to go so it would be easier on the person watching my house for me to keep track of things while I'm gone.

I got the package last night and it doesn't have the lite model in it, it has an elite model in it. Which normal i would be laughing about except that it doesn't look to be useable with the stuff i have for the lite.  The light has a wire running out of it that plugs into the power bar. but the elite has a phone plug looking hole in it. can I just use a regular phone line or does it take a special wire?

I would normally do the right thing and send the RKE back to them at their cost for shipping if they wanted, but now they've kinda messed me up on piece of mind while on vacation so I'm going to keep this thing if i can make it work.

Anybody know if everything is compatible and if I can just plug in a phone cord to make it work?

Thanks

Should be compatible.....Any pics??? Is this still the same issue that you had the last time with the unit????? Maybe I might have you confused with someone else......Curious no instructions with the new unit sent out?????  Any pics of the new unit?

FWIW, we've had terrible experiences with DA's customer service, and we now have a $800 boat anchor instead of a controller (it never worked, and DA just tossed up their hands about it).  to that end, we're putting an Apex on the 210 gal setup.

Sorry you're having trouble.

I've never dealt with DA, but can say that Neptune's the company that makes the Apex is second to none. I bought a unit and the pH port was bad, they touble shot it with me for hours, then replaced it with overnight shipping. Then called me and double checked the service.

Sorry to hear about the DA problems.

and no, no instructions, the original lite didn't come with instructions either though, you had to download them off the net, pretty stupid. With so many people having these units I expected more from them I still havent tried plugging it in yet
