Hello I have a 90 gallon FO tank. I have a fluval 205 and marineland 350 filter on it. What type of protein skimmer would you suggest? Also can anyone tell me how to build a sump? I wanna get rid of the 350 filter all together. Last question, What is the best light to use with just fish only? Price being under $200.  Thanks!

What type of protein skimmer would you suggest? Octopus,  is a good brand Also can anyone tell me how to build a sump? Do a search many threads about this I wanna get rid of the 350 filter all together. Last question, What is the best light to use with just fish only? Price being under $200. For fish only you just need a good looking light not the fixture. I have a top on my tank and a canopy to hide light so I used a shop light T8 with slyvania sky lite bulbs 8000K, price $20.

Thanks for the advice. What do you mean by shop light T8? Can I purchase that at any local pet store?

No from your local hardware store. The fixture is not designed to go over water, I have mine on top of my glass top. The sky lite bulbs have a blue cast to it like 50/50 bulbs. My coralline algae is growing great.

I searched on Home Depot's website and found a shop light T8 for $20. Now will they have the bulbs there or well that be at a pet store? A search for the bulbs on lowes and home depot came up empty.

What are the dimensions of your 90 gallon, I just put some T8 over a 120 gallon tank - I managed to fit 3 sets of 2 bulbs - 48 inches long, this is a goldfish tank.  I didn't know that slyvania had 9000 k lights that would work great for your tank.

It is 48x18x24. It is a typical 90 gallon tank. The T8 I was looking at on Home Depot's website was 48 inches long and had a place for 2 bulbs. Any thoughts on how much the bulbs run?

I'd just go to one of the big chain pet stores and pic up a basic T5 fixture.  They're under $200 for a 48" and come with the bulbs (10,000k and actinic) I believe.  Will give you that marine tank look.
