I was looking in my tank today and saw these worm looking creatures in my sand and live rock. They are small and always look like the leg of a brittle starfish. I also have these white string looking things coming out of the sand. They just wave back and forth with the current of the water. Anyone know what these are and how to get rid of them? Will try to post a picture later.

Both of the worms you describe are most likely Polychaetes aka Bristleworms.
The first one sounds like a type of Fireworm and is probably a beneficial animal. I say probably because there are half a dozen or so species that can be harmful. The harmful ones are uncommon but they do show up from time to time.
The second one sounds like either a Spaghetti Worm or a Hair Worm. These definately fall into the beneficial category but the tentacles can irritate some types of corals.
