can I put dried starfish into my startup tank?

It will rot fairly quickly.

Is the op asking about the skeleton.  I thought that was bone or something.

Dried starfish will dissolve pretty rapidly.  It's not bone.

+1...when I first started out I thought a dried star would be a great decoration....NOTTTTTTTTTTT

 

it dissolved into mush....not so nice anymore  :(

If you like the look of a starfish, either go plastic or go live. Keep in mind, though, that live starfish have low survival rates in our aquariums.
