What's minimum?

For a Coral Cat Shark, the minimum I would keep them in is a 250g, shark only tank.

Some sites list MINIMUM as 180G...BUT they could get over 3'....so IMO....I would not put one in less then a 300G...IF AT ALL

ALSO IMO sharks do not belong in home aquariums

I have a 180, and with meowzer, I would never keep a banded cat shark in it.

What do you have in your 180?

sharks are cool and all but IMO the ones that can survive in smaller aquariums like banded cat sharks are not that interesting.  there are so many cooler things you could do with that sized tank.

No, there is an electric blue hermit crab in there too.

And then that's it.

Could I keep a harlequin tusk, antennata lion, regal tang, emperor angelfish in my 180?
HOw many times do you need to be told that angelfish make terrible tankmates for lions?
Angels nip Lionfish fins.

Dood...look at this video.  Angels do the same thing to lions...

BTW, this is the exact video from Jerry Barbian that appears in our lionfish care article.

+1

I remember trying to figure out a stocklist for my first set up and was very frustrated that i couldnt have all the fish that made me want to get into this hobby.  however, thanks to the folks on this forum and doing research for myself, i avoided a lot of setbacks that i've seen other aquarists go through because they didnt take the suggestions of more experienced hobbyists.

you are doing the absolute right thing in asking questions- dont hesitate to ask whatever questions you have.  sometimes you wont like the answer you get, but taking advice from ppl like the others that have posted on this thread will save you $$$ if nothing else (not to mention promote the welfare of the livestock).  keep doing what youre doing and we will help in whatever ways we can.

what are the fish you really dig on?  maybe we could come up with a list for you out of your selections?

what else other than clownfish would you like in your 75?  you sent a list before with a tusk, lion, tang and angel...no clowns on that list?  what are the fish you WANT to have, the fish that made you want to set up this tank?  let us know everything you want and we can tell you what you can reasonably have
