Advice needed for babysitting a 2 year old :(

Awhile back, I offered to watch my niece while my sister and her husband took the older kids to Disney World for a week. It was one of the offers that was just meant to be a nice gesture. I never thought my sister would take me up on the offer, since her and my niece are attached at the hip and they only time they spend apart is when my sister is at work. Now, I have watched her for a couple of hours. Any advice for me?

I've been around two year olds most of my working career. Oh, you meant a kid.

Yeah, I've taken care of two and three year old boys before. What kids like most is a routine. Get them used to a routine. Wake up at a certain time, eat regularly, a cool down period before a set bedtime. No exceptions. You also can't let them tell you what to do and to let them know you are boss. Main thing is routine.

Oh, you also have to have patience, dedication, perseverance, bravery, discipline, and you also sometimes have to overlook things.

But that's just coming from an inexperienced mans point of view. shrug.gif

The good thing is that I will be watching her in her own home. Ryann (my niece) is actually very good with my tanks. She just sits on the chair next to the tank. I think the reason I am worried about watching her is that she is very mean to her brothers and her mom. She hits, bites, and throws things at them. She listens pretty well to me.

2 Words Nick JR if they have Dish Network Lock the TV on 169 and deal with the Chatter from the TV.  Second Sippy CUps not Glasses for no spills on the carpets and flooring. 3rd Set Bedties and STICK TO THEM my 2 year old is the sweetest kid in the world BUT miss his bedtime DAMION SATANS SPAWN COMES OUT ALSO IF SHE HAS A BLANKEE DO NT TAKE IT AWAY.  With my son you take his away to wash it you have NON STOP TEARS AND FITS FOR 2 HOURS TIL THE FREAKING THING IS DRY AGAIN.  So have fun and enjoy.  BTW I have 3 kids 8 4 and 2 so I have a little bit of experiance in how to do this.  I also helped raise my Brothers kids until he lost them to my oldest Brother in 2006  so I was the one that they depended on for the first 3 years of his daughters life and 18 months of his sons life.

This is Ryann who is entrusted in my care this week. My sister wasn't too happy that Ryann fell asleep in my arms last night while the car seat was being installed in my car. So far she is being really good. She doesn't really understand that her mom, dad and 3 siblings are not here. I am just keeping her busy.

Things are going well. She cried for her mom for a little bit today, but I calmed her down quick. I'm not liking their dog though. He bit me pretty hard on my hand while I was playing with him.

AHHH between the dog and kid biting,,, scream! no literally ...scream when you get bit by either ,, it will show them that it hurts and they probably wont do it again because it is so startling...Ive used this with numerous kids (was a nanny for a bit) and 4 puppies, lol

My niece is a sweetheart for me for the most part. She has not bit or hit me once.

Update: She is completely miserable today. Ryann is totally missing her family. I'm doing my best to keep her busy, but one minute she'll be giggling and the next sobbing for her mom. She also didn't sleep well. After she wakes from her nap and has lunch, I think we are going to go to the mall. The weather is crappy and I hope this will keep her busy.
