What is this red coral looking stuff?

I've had this tank for years and have moved alot.  Finally been stable enough to get my water quality looking good.  Of course we see some algae!  Anyways, point is this red coral looking stuff just started growing out of the blue.  Grew as fast as Algae did!  I've done some light searches and have found no luck.  I have a 5 inch clump that has detached, it doesn't sting me.  You can see the big clump in the third picture.  I have never purchased anything close to it before.  Also I haven't purchased anything for my tank in years.  Think I have atleast 300 pounds of LR that is atleast 5 years old.

Also, I only just turned my lights on to take the pictures.  That's why the mushrooms look so closed.  These red things don't close up at all in the dark.  Only critters I have in my tank are hermit crabs and 2 peppermint shrimp.  They don't seem to be affected.

btw, I've been away from the forum for years... there used to be a section for selling fish/corals..........  is it not allowed anymore or am I missing something?
