Hi new here just need some quick advice

So I recently bought a banded cat shark pup and I am curious if this species can move backwards as she is chilling in a dead end crevice in the rock work or if I should move the rock work around to make it more suitable for the little girl. Thanks.

I'm going to bump this for you because I think you will need the help. The thing is that many shark and ray threads on here are created by trolls who are looking to start trouble. I'm hoping that you are really serious about your question.

 

How big of a tank do you have and what kind of filtration do you have?

Oh I see no I am serious and I just found out from an employee at Big Al's that they can not 'walk' or swim for that matter backwards so I changed the rock work around so it is a island she can swim around with caves at the bottom. She is 7'' long in a 60 gallon aquairum I have a Fluval 405 canister filter a 65 gallon coral life protein skimmer and one powerhead. Yes I know I will need a bigger aquarium sooner rather than later and plan on buying a 300 gallon out of ground pond on Monday She is quite happy and more than willing to eat out of my hand.

 

And seriously what kind of community is this that would not answer someones question that concerns a shark or ray just because a couple of bottom feedersrolleyes.gif wanted some attention before hand.

Well, I don't know anything about sharks...just want to say Welcome to the site. I think the island idea was a good one so the fish can swim around the tank endlessly, I did that with my tang that liked to have lots of swim room and it worked out well. Pictures are always welcome and I'm looking forward to the 300g pond.

you may also think about taking the rock out as she gets bigger... or just putting it in the corners to kind "round them out" not like shes going to swim in the corners anyways...

the island idea os good for now.. what kind of sand are you using? sharks have a real hard time with crushed coral or superfine sugar sand.. the coral can scratch and cut them and the superfine gets in their gills and upsets their breathing...
