Hahaha!

Now that I'm pregnant and can't drink and hubby doesn't drink, I had considered attempting the vodka dosing thing since I have a ton of it in my house

why do you feel the need to dose

The last time I dosed the tank with vodka the fish hated it.  Maybe I used too much orange juice.  happy New Years everyone.

I just started a dosing regiment. I had a hard time keeping NO3 low while my PO4 wasnt too bad. I have a 200g bowfront reef with a maxed bioload and several SPS and other sensitive corals. I have had an NO3 problem for a while. I do 15% weekly water changes but it wasnt enough.

Anyways...I used the 100 net gallon dosing procedure. http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2008-08/nftt/index.php

I started out dosing 0.4 ml the first week.  Checked my parameters and my NO3 was unchanged and my PO4 was slightly changed.  I now dose 0.8 ml daily and NO3 is around 5ppm and PO4 is 0ppm.  I have been doing this for almost 2 months. Make sure you have a strong skimmer.  Fish and corals are happy and I am very happy with the results.  I basically went real slow and did my homework.  I saw where a guy (I assume) didnt know how much to dose and dosed 50 ml of vodka on his 400g reef tank and killed everything.  I mean really?  Dumbest thing ever. If you decide to dose, do your homework and start out dosing half or less of what any source tells you to start out. Check parameters constantly. Your pH will be affected a little bit but I have an extra pump for more oxygen diffusion.

Good luck!
