will my mushroom make it?....

I found a mushroom on a plug burried in the sand about a week ago. I put it about mid way up the tank in moderate water flow to see what happens.

Currently, it is white due to it being bleached but it has a greenish pink tinge to it and it is closed up pretty small. BUT, none of my hermits or brittle stars are touching it. Usually they will devour anything that dies but they dont even seem to notice it. Could that mean theres still some life in it?

Ive brought back 6 other shrooms, their previous owner had his light off for 2 months to try to get rid of hair algae. Now that they have come back they are bigger than all of my other mushrooms and vibrantly colored. It took like 6 months, but theyre beautiful now.

Would it be possible to bring one back that has been burried for who knows how long? How will i know if it is dead beyond repair?

Keep it, It will either come back with a vengeance or wither a way to nothing...

When they "wither away to nothing" will it literally dissenegrate? Or will it just stay small and white? Im just wondering if its already past the point of no return. Do they "melt" like other corals do when they die? Do they give off a slime? Is there any indicators of it being dead dead?

It will melt away. So I would keep it to see what happens. There is no loss to keeping it.

I would place it low in the tank until it regains some color.  Light shock can be harmful.  And I agree with GeoJ, if it's not melted then it is very much alive.

Wow cool, hopefully this one will come back with a vengence too! I dont remember ever buying it or losing it for that matter, it must be a little trooper. Thanks guys

Quick update for my mushroom that was burried in the sand for god knows how long:

ITS COMMING BACK!!! I think its either a ric or a fuzzy but I cant be too sure yet. Its starting to color up with some yellow and pink but im sure thatll change over time. It was about the size of my pinky nail when I found it, now its about the size of my thumb nail :)
