Wow, looks beaten on. How long has it looked like this?

Is it eating?

If it were me, I'd start Melafix and vitamins (Selcon and VitaChem).

Interested to see what Beth and others have to say.

I agree, aggression.

Is this fish a new addition to your tank?  Is this fish in a well established QT?

Is this fish a new addition to your tank? no the picasso was added a few weeks ago. this fish had been in the tank for more than a year Is this fish in a well established QT? no i just put the qt together as an emergency about an hour ago. i also have an tank i can put him in the is not aggressive but i have 2 yellow tangs and a purple in there. im not sure if i should put him in there while he is so beat up. should i put him in the fuge of my established reef tank?

The water conditions in the QT must remain very good.  So, if you can accomplish that, then keep him in the QT.  If not, then move to the other tank.  Maybe think about getting a divider for your tank.  Maybe find another home for the picasso.

What size tank was he in?

What size tank was he in? the picasso was in a 150 before coming to me. and he is in a 150 now.

well he is alive this morning. he is in one corner of the tank but the other fish are not bothering him. i fed them with garlic in their food. i had to feed on the opposite end of the tank to get the fish away from him then i fed him while the other fish were busy eating on the other side. he is eating very slowly but at least he is eating a little bit. i think its just because he is so weak right now. hopefully i can save him

Keep an eye out on the tank to be sure that other fish don't start showing aggression.

yeah i turned off the lights because of all my fish its the atlantic blue that started picking on him shrug.gif good sign: he was defending himself so he built up a little strength but i didnt want him to struggle so i just turned the lights off instead

Turning off the lights will not prevent aggression.  Sounds like both your tanks will not be good for this fish.

I'm happy to report he is doing so much better. The Atlantic blue stopped picking on him once the sailfin left his corner. I just fed them and he actually came up to eat with the other fish. He is eating good. So I hope he will be ok now. He was such a beautiful fish.

The pitfalls of not having a permanent QT.  Sorry to hear, but not much can be done within the tank.

How are your water readings?
