Funny $%^& our signifigant others say about our hobby....

I can't be the only one.  My wife puts up with a lot of tank crap around this house.  Some things she turns a blind eye to, some things she gently tells me to move, or stop, etc.

And some things she just comments on with her casual snarkiness.  What sort of gems have your wives/hubbies/dates said about your tank habits?

I'll go first.  My wife just walked out of the bathroom after using the facilities.  "FYI," she said, "I don't appreciate lifting the toilet seat and discovering a bristle worm still floating in the bowl...."

Oops.  flamed.gif

Yeah, my wife also puts up with a lot, but she also understands it's my passion as well. She doesn't really know a whole lot about reef keeping, but occasionally she asks some questions when she is concerned about one of the livestock.

I think it's funny that she named my bi-color blennie "bennie" and my two tomato clowns "Allie and Noah" from The Notebook.

"Those pumps sure do blow that air around a lot."

Mine understands...but there are limits.  Apparently a bristleworm in the toilet is a no-no.

lol, my wife hates it when I clean the scrubber screen in the bathroom sink.

You know.....I can not think of anything that Danny complains about......And  there is so much he does for me too.....I use to think it annoyed him when I called him every 5 minutes.....saying...DANNY HURRY come see this.......LOL

But he thought it was cuteshrug.gif

Even today.....he was not feeling well, and spent half his day off re-wiring my leds on the 54G.....then he siphoned the sand in the 225G for me.....I am so glad he can not read this,....BUT I SURE APPRECIATE HIMlaughing.gif

My wife talks to our fish. lol I don't mind it at all, but I think it's funny that she treats them like a cat or a dog. She talks to our betta fish too. lol Of course, she has a big imagination - she's going to be a first grade teacher. lol

My wife refers to this site and others like it as "fish porn."  Referring to the amount of time I spend on the computer staring at aquarium related crapola.

She's never said "YOU PAID HOW MUCH FOR THAT??!" but she has asked, when I told her a coral was $35.00, if that was in real money or fish money.

it was in fish money.  rolleyes.gif

My late husband used to ask me how much I paid for something...my answer once..."A little over a $100.00" later that night just before bed he asked me..How much over $100.00?, to which I responded $96.80

I also used to tell him I purchased a certain item and some other stuff, to which he once retorted, "It's the AND STUFF, I'm worried about"

My hubby looks around and says, "This house is starting to look like a fish store." "Do you have to have all that stuff sitting everywhere?"  He also makes fun of me about my RO/Di unit. I call it my water maker, and he thinks it is hilarious! LOL.

Mark and I are both in the hobby, so I'm lucky in that respect. However, I did not appreciate him trying to trade me for coral or comparing me to a mantis shrimp flaming.gif

My wife likes the fact that I have a rewarding hobby that keeps me in the house. Further, she has bought a good portion of the livestock, both fish and coral.

In fact, we recently added a couple of fish and she bought my beloved <redacted> for me that will be out of the LFS QT later this week! (pics next week, maybe)

She also keeps wanting to start plans for an upgrade....

You have a smart wife...a hobby that keeps you home and close by, is worth your weight in gold. Some wives don't want hubby around all the time, and it sounds like she enjoys the hobby with you too.
