28 gal jbj nano tank

I used to have a 55 gal and a 120 gal tank but life hit hard had to move into a smaller place and now have this tank. I do love it but I am having this problem with bubbles , I can see them coming out of my return once in a while. If I turn off one pump it seems to be fine. I can not figure this out. This is my first nano so maybe I am doing something wrong. I am on my phone so not sure how to post pics.

OK...it sounds like you have both pumps running simultaneously, which doesn't work well with this tank (I have two of them).  What you need to do is set the little wavemaker that came with the tank so the returns alternate.

 

When both pumps are on, they empty the "sump" too quickly and suck a bit of air occasionally.
