Would 36 3w LEDs mounted on a 32 inch long by 4 1/2 wide heat sink be enough or to much light?

Bumping so others will see it.

i think you might be fine.. i have 30 1w white, and 30 1w blue on my 44 pendagon (tall) and my light seems really bright... im not an expert but imo if you have it fairly high from your water level it will spread out nicely

what colors are they going to be and what optics are you going to use? are they going to be ran at the full 3w or (as some of the recent fixtures are saying) only running 2w....

Im assuming your tank is 36 inches wide?

Yes the tank is 36. I don't think I will need lenses the tank is built into a wall so the fixture will be close to the top of the tank. Royal Blue, Blue and White will be the LEDs. Each string will have its own dimmer. My goal is to put the PAR level high enough to keep anything I want. Not that I am going to but I just want to make sure I can. This tank will be a fish only with live rock for some time but I know that in the future I would like to add some easy corals.
