Hi Everyone,

I have a 14 Gallon BioCube thats a year old & something caught my eye. I known these media baskets are to replace your bioballs but am a little scared & have some questions..

I know you can just take out the Bio-Balls but im sure my tank will have an effect, some have mentioned taking out a few a day. So whats the best approach?

I also read that people are taking out the floors in the back chambers. Whats the deal with this?

So all around... would you convert? If you have done it please fill me in!

Thanks!

I took the bioballs and original filter cartridge out of mine. I never started with bio balls, so didn't run into the same issue as you. I have two schools of thought on this: 1) if it's working for you, and it looks like it is from your video, leave it be 2) if you really want to remove them, remove a few every few days, give your tank time to correct itself. I'd do every other day.

I never removed the bottoms of chambers, just didn't think it was worth it. The only thing I kept in the back was ChemiPureElite in the middle chamber will some poly filter over the top of it.

Oh one question I forgot to mention!

What will the water level be like? I don't want a loud trickle noise..

Without the bioballs? About the same if you are planning on adding something else to the chamber. Some people add live rock, I added the ChemiPure pouch. The poly filter pad that I added on top of the carbon really did cut down on the noise a lot.
