what overflow design to use?

Thread Starter

can anyone help me choose an overflow box for my large DT
and can you please give me the reason on why to use which one or why not the other option?
Option 1
external overflow box coast to coast along the short side of the tank

Option 2
2 overflow boxes along the long side of the tank

Option 3
2 internal overflow boxes that could serve as brace. Could interfere with lighting though?

Option 4
4 drilled (2') drain pipes coming straight into the tank along the long side of the tank (ChingChai method)

Personally I would prefer option 1 as I would like the tank to become viewable from both sides of the tank.
Though the reason for this post is for the experts to tell me if using just one overflow box along the short side of the tank (and looking at the length og ythe tank) would not be sufficient surface skimming?
Or.....?

any other ideas maybe?
as you can see I need some advice here.
