Cleaning sides of tank ?

I got my tank off my mom and it is a 55gl  she used an green scrub pad to clean the front glass and it has scratched it and my magnet cleaner is not getting the green stuff out of the scratches.  I bought a dishbrush hoping the bristles would fit in the scratches but it doesn't any advice on what I can use that will get into the scratches but not make new ones in the process??? Thanks!

I haven't found anything that really works in scratches. Interested to see in anyone has some tips. My 14G has a scratch across the front of it that I can't get the green algae out of. It looks like someone took a colored pencil and drew it on there.

The only thing that helped a little was a baby bottle brush, but it still didn't get that much out.
