Amphiapode/copepod quetion

I have a 28 gallon nano tank with a couple of fish, 2 shrimp, and a mandarin.  I want to add some pods.  I ordered off this website, but what it ended up being was a bottle of plankton.  I saw somewhere else larger amphiapods/copepods that are large enough to see that come on floss.  They have a special running that is buy 500 get 500 free or for only 6 dollars more you can buy 1000 and get 1000 free.  The 2000 is a better deal, but is that way too many for a 28 gallon tank?  Also they have usps priority shipping for only $11 but the shipping time is 2 to 3 days.  Do you think they would make it alive in that time frame?

The copepods are really tiny... you have to really look for them.  Amphipods are the ones you can see. I know the place you are referring too, I was happy with them, I'm not sure I would risk the 2-3 day shipping in this cold weather. Watch for sales for lower shipping.....

I would just go and buy a piece of live rock or chetomorpha at an LFS and ask them to show you the amphiapods/copepods that should be all over them.

I don't have a lfs unfortunately.  Do you think the 2000 would be too many, or should I get that many since it is a good deal?

2000 isn't too many for your tank when you already have a mandarin...However if you don't have a refugium or a sectioned off area where they can breed, you will have to keep adding copepods. To use what you order as a seeder to keep a population..you have to acclimate the pods not just dump them in.

If you just dump them in they die off in a few days. I read this from the same site you plan to order from.
