I need help on resealing my 125g tank

Last night at 12:30 my 125g tank got a big leak. The seam in the cornor came apart.

How did i fix this it is not split all the way down. Can i dry it out and reseal it with 100% silicone.?

Please help

I think youll find that the only good way to go about this is to take the glass panels apart and reseal the tank from the ground up. Once a tank has sprung a leak then the entire seal and integrity of the tank has been compromised. Simply patching over the leaking area is a huge gamble and one that has ended badly for some folks. 100% silicone is fine. Stay away from products that have any extra mold or mildew resistant fungicides added to them.

Thank you very much i have a brand new 125g on the way. I think i will seal the old one and see if that will hold water.

I just went through this with my 75, had to do it twice because the first time it still leaked. The only way to be sure it is sealed correctly is to scrape ALL the old silicone off using as many razor blades as it takes, get it all off. Then clean the glass with rubbing alcohol, making sure you get all the old sicicone off. New silicone will only stick to glass, not old sicicone!

 

Once you have it preped, put masking tape about 1/4" to 1/2" from the edge so after you silicone it and it dries you can pull the tape off and have a nice clean edge.

 

Also I'd give it at least 5 days to dry completely.
