How long does it take to acclimate a guppy to sw?

I bought a guppy today with the idea that I would acclimate him to my reef. The lfs guy said it takes "hours", so to be safe, I acclimated him for about 10 hours... But I didnt even get the salinity in the bag to match the salinity in the tank before he died.

Id really like to have a guppy to keep algae at bay and because its the only fw fish I find to be pretty. But... I wanna make sure he will make it next time

not guppies... Mollies...

Some Freshwater mollies can be converted to saltwater. Yes, they do eat algae. And yes, it does take a very long time to acclimate.

Hmm, ive read guppies can too and the lfs guy seemed to know what i was talking about. How long should I acclimate next time (maybe ill try a molly, after I see how well my new coral beauty keeps it in check) I really dont have much algae, but I prefer crystal clear glass... My algae blenny experience didnt go as planned... I was hoping he would be the type to eat fish food as well as algae, but no such luck... He wouldnt even touch an algae sheet
